Easy to use light biner 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: kylethemonkey, 2010-09-06

I like these. Light weight + cheap + bent gate for easy clipping. I use these for most of my trad biners and have at least 30. I looked at other biners but they mostly seemed to small.

The bent gate really helps with clipping and I think that if some of the other smaller biners had bent gates I would go with those.

Good size yet super light, good quality 5 out of 5 stars

I just received a whole set of these, and I have to say at $6 a piece they are an amazing value. At only 30 grams they are the lightest biner in its size, tied with the Trango SuperFly, which is about the same size. They are larger than most compact biners like the Neutrino, and feel much closer to full size. They have smooth gate action, and didn't notice any problems with the gates in the dozen I got. These have got to be the best wire gates for the money.

Cheap and shiny, but poor construction quality 1 out of 5 stars

The batch of 12 straight and curved gates I got had serious quality control issues.

In particular the holes for the wire gates was sloppy -- this resulted in some biners just squeaking, and others looking like the wire might slip out if given a good tug.

I contacted Mad Rock 3 times about my concerns (by phone, by letter, and by email -- even sending them photos of the problems); they either didn't respond, or didn't seem to care.

This is disappointing coming from a company whom I admired for its aggressive pricing; I'm not sure I would to trust my safety to Mad Rock equipment anymore.

Madrock biners... they're truck 4 out of 5 stars

I Love Them. I submitted an early review in the forums when they first came out. I bought 24 of them. 12 of the silver straight gates, 12 of the red bent gates. I use most of them for racking my gear and the few remaining for sport/trad draws.

The slim profile, light weight and ease of clipping make my harness smile. (All red on the right, all silver on the left... makes it easy to quickly identify where a piece of gear needs to be re-racked.)

They're about the same size as a black diamond neutrino but lighter and stronger and CHEAPER
