This was taken from the North Sister on Baranof Island near Sitka, in southeast Alaska. Most of the rock in the Sitka area is wet and crumbly, but the hiking is still gorgeous and some of the peaks are imposing. I like that traveling in the mountains here is somewhere between hiking and climbing. - Eric Matthes
