We took this photo on our way back to sunrise after summiting the day before. This was the first 4th of July in years with good weather. It was overcast and stormy our first day out, but the next three days were picture perfect.

We bivied on Curtis Ridge and climbed the route from our bivy, back over the peak to the car in 26 hours. Long day. The route ascends the obvious rib in the middle of the peak. Photo taken on the obvious steep headwall at approximately 12,000-13,000 feet on Liberty Ridge. We experienced a lot of good blue ice up there. Some was covered with a thin layer of sastrugi (wind-packed snow), approximately 2-3 inches. Good ice underneath. This was probably the best climbing on the route. Alpine ice cruising! I climbed Mt. Rainier via the Ingraham Direct route while hiking parts of the Pacific Crest Trail in the summer of 2000. I know, I know, the ladder is poor climbing style (I was considering posting this to the aid section), but we did hike all the way from Canada to get there.

Here is a pic that is a typical one that can be found from the Puget Sound around Seattle. Many daily activities go on and the Mountain is always watching.

Here is a great pic taken off the net of the tallest climb in the lower 48. I love to see this Mt. as I drive around the state.
