This photo was taken while we were just kicking back on top of the second pitch of Bloody Nose. This was a great last ascent after a perfect day of climbing.

4 yr old Joshua sending Surprise

Average Rating = 3.20/5 4 yr old Joshua sending Surprise

4 Year Old Joshua is climbing on the sport Route called Surprise. We strategically put Sweet Tarts on the route as incentive to get him to want to climb higher.

Fancy Lass sending Fancy Lads

Average Rating = 3.40/5 Fancy Lass sending Fancy Lads

Tracy is climbing on the fantastic upper pitch of Fancy Lads. The bottom pitch is sport 5.10c and the upper pitch is either 5.12c or about 5.8 A0. There are bolts in the 5.12 section that you can aid on, and then there's beautiful trad climbing after that. Look out for the wasp nest Tracy!

Good look at Innerspace.

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Good look at Innerspace.

The crux is the slightly overhanging bulge about 12 to 15 feet off the deck. The water groove on the right side of the bulge is the ticket up and over. Only problem is the bulge is a conglomerate of very sharp pebbles that'll clean the hide off your fingers! It's a great climb!

Kerry on the upper pitch of Bloody Nose

Average Rating = 2.67/5 Kerry on the upper pitch of Bloody Nose

Kerry is topping out on the upper pitch of the classic Bloody Nose (5.6 Trad) at Drapers Bluff. There's a lot of good exposure and easy climbing on this route. The lichen is always beautiful and doesn't affect the friction. I've often times found huge amounts of lady bugs on this part of the route.

My second ever SR lead!

Average Rating = 2.00/5 My second ever SR lead!

This is a really nice route on the South Face of Drapers Bluff in So. IL. I love climbing at the place! I don't know which route it is so if someone could help me out I'd appreciate it. I think it's in the vicinity of "Monarch", "Innerspace", and others. There's a couple of belay bolts just to the left of the cedar tree.

Wes Tite traversing the Bloody Nose Variation

Average Rating = 3.38/5 Wes Tite traversing the Bloody Nose Variation

Wes Tite leads the airy traverse on the Bloody Nose Variation (5.8) @ Draper's Bluff in So. Ill. Route starts at the top of the belay ledge after the first pitch. Instead of traversing left out onto the face for "Bloody Nose" (5.6), traverse right under the roof for the variation (5.8). Photo by Andy Lemon.
