Sunrise on Long's Peak

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Sunrise on Long's Peak

Alpine sunrises make waking up at 2am worth it. Ben Hogan and I silouheted by the sun rising over the East Face approach of Long's Peak. Now if only the sun had warmed the place up a little, we would've been in business.

A Wintry Long's Peak

Average Rating = 0.00/5 A Wintry Long's Peak

A view of the infamous East Face of Long's Peak from a 13,000 footer that we quickly learned was actually NOT the approach for Long's, but instead it's own little mountain. Guess that's what topo maps are for.

Longs Peak lost in the Clouds

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Longs Peak lost in the Clouds

Just minutes before, Longs Peak was in plain view against a background of blue sky. Now hardly anything can be seen of the massive 14er as clouds and snow blow in.

The surrounding peaks

Average Rating = 0.00/5 The surrounding peaks

Since Longs Peak was hidden amongst a mass of snow and clouds, I opted to take a shot of the surrounding peaks.

Drought My Eye.....

Average Rating = 1.00/5 Drought My Eye.....

This is the 500 year drought here in Colorado. The Fire danger is listed at MODERATE at the time this was taken, and you can understand why when you see the picture. Thats a river of Gasoline that you see flowing down from the mountains, and thats why we have statewide fire bans now.

D1 from base

Average Rating = 2.50/5 D1 from base

This photo is looking up at D1 from the base. From this perspective the route is very foreshortened and it is difficult to make out the route's length. Notice the portaledge high on the wall--I believe this was a team working The Honeymoon Is Over.
