This was the view from the gash on a rainy morning in late August. Weather report was bad but I had just flown from PA and was so eager to climb we walked up there anyway...."just in case." The weather reports were actually optimistic about afternoon showers. It was foggy in the dark and raining by sun up. There were a couple of breaks (such as the one in the photo) but the rock was too wet to get on it. Sharks Tooth was impressive though. It's very high on my hit list and will get it eventually. Sometimes, with climbing tasks at hand, we often forget to look around and appreciate the beauty that first called to us.

In Loch Vale, Mixed Feelings is a stellar climb. M6 up to WI 5 on this day with bomber cams and one fixed blade before you gently get on the cicle. One of the best days out with friends captured by a new friend.

One of the best pitches I've ever led in the mountain. The ice was too thin for pro, but thick enough to let you climb confidently.

Really great pitch. About a quarter inch of ice on the left of a vertical chimney, good rock pro most of the way, and a roof crux at the end.

Right off the deck this bitch is in your face. The ice is poorly bonded and sketchy, should have left the screws at home. This photo of Alan was taken by Jon G. as he was slowly freezing to death in a 50mph wind.

Looking back down at the OH beginning, a nice rest can be had in a body size cavity before the route sneaks around the roof through a narrow slot, the ice necks down for more fun fun fun climbing. Best ice pitch I've ever lead.

Just got done climbing the South Face on the Petit Grepon in RMNP. It was David's frist alpine rock climb as well as my first big alpine rock lead. Definitely one of the classic climbs in the park.

A couple hundred feet up on the Petit Grepon in RMNP. We caught up with a party ahead of us and just enjoying the view. Truely one of the classics in the park.

Gotta love late may in RMNP, heck it's more snow than we saw all year in Ky. Just taking a fun snow hike up to a lake I'd never visited an these two spires soaring up out of the snow covered talus stopped me in my tracks

A variation on the long 5.7 pitch near the top is shown ascending the two red overhangs to double right facing corners. 5.9+R maybe no R if you remember the HB, doh!

Sharpie topping out on the Petit. From the Pizza Pan to the summit is one of the most mellow yet most excitingly exposed pitches out there. This pic does not do it justice.

Hard to distinguish the petit from the sharkstooth in this photo, but if youve been there you know what your looking at. Beautiful weather and climbing the whole day.

my camera is not the best so when we took these shots and tried to splice them together, the exposure wasnt quite right. O well, I still have my mental image of the place.

Im a fan of these kind of shots so of course i had to take one on top of the petit. Provides some perspective.
