British portaledge party #2This is a group of Brits in the midst of a portaledge party at the start of the WFLT. Although ledges are not needed for this route, they were doing it for some practice before they headed up the Big Stone next.

Leaning Tower, Yosemite c2f 5.7The West face of the leaning tower is one of the most overhanging big walls in the world. Well bolted, it is often easier to lead than jumar. The start is already 400 feet up and very overhung, making it a bit spooky. Any unfortunate third (aka me) is looking at quite a lot of free-hanging crazyness.

Pitch Five RoofThis is pitch five just above the A3 head ramp. I placed one head on lead, my first ever, after the existing head fell out in my hand. Getting to the ramp is an adventure in and of itself. Think loose 5.7X... Thanks to Smithclimber for snapping the shot.

Jugging SequenceJugging the first 2 pitches of WF of Leaning Tower will definitely give you time to work out your free hanging technique. Paul Wallace shot these pics and then I sequenced them in Photoshop.

Ben On The CatwalkLeaning Tower - West Face V 5.7 C2F - Ben Banks standing at the start of the 4th class section. He is organizing his personal gear, attaching his YATES adjustable daisys to his YATES big wall ladders. He also uses a YATES Shield harness. You can see the fixed line down near his left foot, that you clip into as you make the traverse.

Traverse From Guano LedgeThis is me climbing the traverse from Guano ledge, on Leaning Tower, WestFace. The traverse pitch finishes with an awesome bombay flare; great for ballsy leapfroggin'. After this, link the next pitch starting with two or three hook moves (or 5.6 free they say) into a left traversing bolt ladder, putting you almost right above Guano Ledge again.

I love this Traverse!!This is the C2(F) traverse leaving Guano Ledge to enter the upper half of the West Face Route on Leaning Tower.
The fixed gear I was hoping for right after the lower out was missing on the day I actually summitted this.

Wet Denim Daydream - Pitch 6This is the beginning of pitch six. Smithclimber took the shot, and I mangled it with photoshop. The pitch starts out with a fun little pendulum to a head crack. Nice straightforward aid.

There's that needle (in the haystack)!!This is our wonderful anchor on W Face of LT on Awhanhee Ledge at the end of day 1. Organization is the key. Really this is organized, it's just a lot of gear.

Addiroids and Julie DeJesusSo I lead 5 and 6 of West Face and Wallhammer says someone wants to pass us. I didn't like the idea, but when the dude cleaned the two pitches in like 15 minutes, I was cool with it. So this cute girl comes jugging up the haul like from Awhanhee Ledge and I'm like: "Are you Julie DeJesus (from Rampage bouldering video)?" and she's like: "Yes I am!" then I'm all: "You sure do look like yourself!" And she's all: "Thanks!" So I showed her how to haul and then Chris VanLueven (Spaz) came up and I belayed him on the next pitch.

Addiroids on Awahnee LedgeI (addiroids) was so hungry I could eat a carabiner after the approach to West Face of Leaning Tower. Note the characteristic tilted helmet. Haul bag is from Hiro who soloed Wet Denim Daydream. Photo by wallhammer.
