Pretty in Pink in 1988

Average Rating = 2.75/5 Pretty in Pink in 1988

My first climb on a rope sometime around 1988, and no respectable trad climber would ever be seen in anything but the brightest colors, with matching rope of course.

When I first saw Tahquitz I was amazed, it looked so imposing, after climbing it though I realized it is truly a perfect place to climb.

first pitch of Lip Up Fatty

Average Rating = 2.25/5 first pitch of Lip Up Fatty

The "Angel Wings" flake on Lip Up Fatty's first pitch is very fun. This route is uncrowded, clean, and just plain fun.

Exiting the corner

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Exiting the corner

This route has several fun sections but is simply not worth your day if you are looking for something fun to do. this pic is just before the move left past the roof (piece of cake) on the second to last pitch.

Are you kidding? Pitch 3 taken from Fingertrip (c) S.Nomi

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Are you kidding? Pitch 3 taken from Fingertrip (c) S.Nomi

Yet another thin face/slab pitch with meager but adequate protection, don't get greedy.

Jensen's Jaunt Under Traitor Horn

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Jensen's Jaunt Under Traitor Horn

Ground up view of Jensen's Jaunt. The start using the flake rope's draping over can be tricky. Easier start to the left just out of frame. Neil is just below the narrow, right facing trough where belay 1 was. Belay 2 was made on a slopey section at the foot of Traitor Horn, where another party crossed line with us to get at the Traitor Horn. Jensen's Jaunt then goes left around Traitor Horn, with an airy stepout onto a slopey ledge, then up an offwidth section to belay 3 on a wide ledge with a bomber tree at head level. there's a loose dead tree on the edge of the ledge too. Veer right and up the slab face to a topout among huge boulders. 23 Apr 2004

The follower cautiously stepping around a blind corner with no hands, which was heady after removing the pro overhead, making possible a swing into the block to the right. 24 Apr 2004.

Art and Michael Warming Up

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Art and Michael Warming Up

Art and I hadn't been to Tahquitz in quite a while. My excuse was the desert, Art's a bit more emotional after witnessing last year's accident. Talking about it, the two of us decided that it was time to head on out and have some fun. Other than a bit of snow, the day was one more to remember those that were here before us.

Angles Fright

Average Rating = 2.67/5 Angles Fright

This is me starting off in the 5.4 chimney of Angles Fright. My partner and I did it in 3 long pitches. The dihedral was the best pitch on the climb.

Where did they go?

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Where did they go?

We got onto Angels Fright early because it is a very popular route. We were the first there, but soon two more groups got in line behind us. The group behind us was keeping on our tail until my partner strung the 3rd and 4th pitch together and flew up them both. here I am following those two pitches....never saw those guys after that.

Tim chillin after first climb

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Tim chillin after first climb

This is a pic of Tim Carrol after his first rock climb. We did Fingertip Traverse and it was awsome. When he said he would try climbing I realy let him have it. The approach hike, the wilderness, the multi-pitch trad, and the belay set up with the most exposer possible made the climb a clasic for his first. On the last belay he was pissed and a little freeked. After we topped out I handed him a Keg-can and the worm turned!!!! Cheers Brotha!
