Unknown Climber SilhouetteThis is a sunset picture I took at Joshua Tree. It took me a few sunset pictures to realize the unknown climber on top. This is the best one of him. He free soloed up and down right at sunset, quite a sight.

Joshua tree, 2004It was a long and dry walk home. We camped beneath the space station and spent more time in orbit than on terra firma. I got a yucca tip lodged in my leg and it took a month to get the little bastard out.

Joshua TreeToward the end of the climbing day, I took this shot of an unknown climber who seemed engrossed in the view. For me, this picture epitomizes why Joshua Tree is such an amazing place to climb at.

whispering silenceAfter a long day of climbing and trashing the fingers, out-of-this-world feeling of camping in joshuatree is breathtaking. I cannot remember which campground it was, either jumborocks or sheeppass, well, if you go there without a reservation, during the springbreak and a nice weather, you will be happy to find any camping spot at all. It is all good though.
Technotes: Eos5, 19-35 at 19mm, tripod, 4-5pm roughly 1 hour before the sunset, tmax400 b&w film, stiched 6 images using PS, and the sepia-like coloring is done using PS color balance tool.

My first lead! This is me on my first lead ever. Nice and easy 5.7+ somewhere in J-tree. Sadly I don't remember where, or what it's called. The photo was taken by Kendall Chun. I did the whole thing sans falls (which is great because I would have torn myself up pretty badly on that J-tree cheese grating rock). This picture was taken in March of 2005.
