This shot was taken some years back. I thought I would put it on here for historical purposes. This is Sewery's Roof. A pretty fun bolt ladder. There is a memorial plaque for Bill Sewery that is placed just right of the bolts on the roof.

You might be tempted to believe this is not an actual photo of a real live rock climber. Rest assured that "Vinny the Pug" is in fact very real living and climbing in Phoenix. Vinny has a heart for climbing that will challenge most people involved in this wonderful sport. When getting ready for a climb, I will open up his harness and he literally puts his head and legs into their proper places. During one of his growth spurts, Vinny's harness had begun to get a little tight. I went out and bought a new one thinking he'd like it. Vinny would not wear it. Consequently,I had to splice two strips into his original gear to enable it to fit his muscular body. Andrei climbs 2nd ascent of Ghastly Rubberfat 5.10c; took a 15' whipper a couple moves after the photo. Route looks loose and scary, but it isn't as bad as it looks; just follow the bolt line. It is 15m from the south end of Headwall. Taken 12/2001 by sonso45.

This point is a little after the start of one of the bouldering routes on the Flaming Testicle. It is completely overhanging and has pretty good holds.

I took this photo of Kurt manhandling this behemoth at Camelback Mountain, a dirty crag normally known for its choss factor, not for chickenheads of unusual size. The route is truly named the Flaming Testicle. In this case, pictures speak louder (and bigger)than words.

This is a view of The Praying Monk from the backyard at my folk's house. I grew up looking at that thing everyday. Naturally, I'd have to climb it at some point in my life. Anyway, I'm posting this sucker to put it into an article for rc.com.

That's right, mama, we have 10 people on top of the Monk. The summit is about the size of a $200/mo studio apartment. I want to tote up a BBQ and grill some burgers on this sucker some day. If you want to make history with me, let me know. What kind of cheese do you prefer?

We had fun, but it was a tad cool. My fingers were frozen about the same place that we see David. An awesome route, but new so beware any unused holds, they may fly!

This is a route that starts up and right of the Hart Route on Camelback Mt. I think the rock quality can be described as really hard mud. Fun climbing anyway!

I won't bore you with re-hashing the details of this climb: other people have doubtless posted all relevant info. I'll just say that it's fun, and has truly magnificent exposure.

Ivan Messinger on Praying Monk. Praying Monk is one of the great little sedimentary formations of Camelback Mountain located in Phoenix Arizona. The "Monk" provides some good sport climbs, that are easily accessed from Echo Canyon Park Trail in Paradis

East Face of the Monk. This is a 5.3 with a 5.7 variation starting from the ground on the south-east corner. Six bolts to a belay station and rap station.

WAITING FOR LOWER QUALITY. 10-3-01 The Monk is the stand alone pinnacle with the dome on top in the center of the photo. You must first climb the headwall to reach the Monk.
