This is what happens when you wait for the slow people. Me on a boulder just below the top of the lift. I call this boulder Somthing out of nothing. Acually there are some prety good boulders bigger than this up on hood. But somthing about 2000ft elavation gain keeps away the crowds

Well I just thought this picture was cool. We camped by the white river below hood. And did some bouldering before dinner. This is Mat. If this were rated it would be 5.7 to 5.9 with a sit down start. Hope this makes you think more than just the developed crags. Have a fun

View of Mt. Hood from the road up to Timberline Lodge at dusk.

This is an aerial view of Mt. Hood on the way home to Tennessee from Portland. It was a beautiful day to see the mountain and the drive from Bend was great too.

Very clear day pulled us out for a summit of Mt Hood. As typical for the area, it was crowded for a mountain. This descent photo around 1PM shows the hogsback area slope well. This early in the season, the slope is at its mildest.

I took my border collie, Stopper, up the Hogsback Route on Mt Hood in 1998. He got a little cold waiting for the sun to come up, but had a great time otherwise. I bought him a couple cheeseburgers after for the drive home. Photo by Jason Cronk, 1998.

Lenticular Lift!

Good story behind this bivy... We started out the day before at the Ramona Falls Trailhead way down the mountain wanting a longer approach for some strange reason. We made it to the base of the Sandy Glacier that night, camped, and planned on waking up at midnight to finish the climb the following day. Despite our three man team having communication dialed, we neglected to appoint someone to set an alarm, so we awoke at sunrise, bumming that me missed our opportunity to send the route. We only had supplies for two days, but we decided to do some recon to help with a later ascent. As we got to the base of the headwall, nobody was ready to turn around, and it looked pretty solid despite a very warm day. So, we looked for a place to bivy, and this was our ONLY option on the entire west face.
