Octoberfest Ice, Borah North SideThis photo shows the start of the actual ice on Octoberfest (AI 4+). Great climbing for October 23! The first 40 feet of the route is the steepest, at approximately 90 degrees, no foot rests. The route continues on, at probably AI 3, and then through several bulges. Ice screws took well. No fixed gear, we rapped off runner-slung rocks. Photo by Sam Eurich (Boise), climber is me.
