This is a self portrait of me at the summit of Little Bear Peak (like you can tell that from the picture) This is probably my proudest Alpine climbing moment so far. This was the shittiest day of climbing I have ever had -- I was tired, hungry, cold, and alone. Perfect. I actually am just submitting this for my profile, so that's why it's a crappy climbing picture.

Well, there is a lot of buzz about this route, but not many pictures of the beautiful lower part. Here is one of Adam Clarke working his way through the middle section of the lower pitch. Edited in PhotoShop for the color/black and white effect. Photo and editing by Austin Williams April 2, 2005

This is the top of the first section of the route. Above is the signature roof. We usually do this route in 2 pitches, this being a good place to stop and take in the views! To the climber's left (where the photographer is sitting) is a large ledge big enough for several people to hang out and enjoy the scenery. Adam Clarke ponders the disparity between new and old. This was once the "Old Lodge Site," a flat stone overlook that provided beautiful views of the valley to the south of Mt. Magazine. Now, it is being replaced with a 60 room hotel, and cabins with jaccuzis... I'm sure we'll all be able to afford to stay there and enjoy it... At least I have the memories. This is A.W. onsighting "Comotus" 5.10 (I think) at the Roman Wall, HCR. Photo by Duane Duncan (http://www.arphotos.com) of Little Rock. This photo was taken about halfway up the route, just above the crux. Above this route lies "Maximus" (5.12), a beautiful roof climb that forms a stellar second pitch.

Zollie McMillan took this picture on our approach to Longs Peak. This peaceful sunrise held no indication of the storms that hit later in the morning.

Crater lake just below the main talus leading to Blanca Peak and Ellingwood Point. I love the color of the water and the snowmelt. Once again, my cheap-ass disposable cameras don't do justice to the memory but at least it's something. The boulder in the lake in the background (to the left) is about 25 ft. tall, just to give some scale to the pic...

Just more proof of the unbelievable weather we had for this trip. Taken from Ellingwood Point, this is Blanca Peak (14,345 ft. - 4th highest in CO) Another disp. camera shot by A.W. We climbed a really fun traverse from the Blanca/Ellingwood saddle to reach the point. Time from the saddle: 30 minutes. Well worth it to bag an extra peak while you're on Blanca.

Another disposable camera shot, but it turned out decent enough, I guess. Taken by A.W. climber in the picture is Dan Bayer from Aspen (www.dbpix.com) and his pictures are way better than mine! This was the view from Blanca summit on a great day in the southern Sangre de Cristos. I have a bigger version of this pic that looks better, it'll be on my site soon.

This is a great shot of Little Bear from Lake Como. Little Bear is part of the Blanca group, which includes Blanca Peak and Ellingwood Point. Great weather and an early start from the trailhead (8000ft.) allowed for this interesting picture. Taken by Austin Williams with a disposable camera... Doesn't do the moment justice. Oh well.

This is a picture taken from my favorite ledge at Mt. Magazine, located right in the middle of crag central. The lake in the picture is blue mountain lake... I think. Oh, view is looking south, with the town of Havana on the left.

Not that great of a picture, I know, but It's the memory... This is me standing under the waterfall at Hideout Hollow after a long day of climbing. The falls are about 30 ft. and the bluff cuts back under like a large amphitheater. The ceiling under the falls is covered with luminescent moss and lichen.

Sam's throne in typical winter conditions. The fog and dead colors made this a very surreal day for climbing... This shot is taken from the western approach.

Just goofing off on the yellow rock trail at the Den. This is a cool climb, though I'm not sure of the name or FA, etc.

This is a really cool route, and one of the first we ever did at Mt. Magazine. This is Keith approaching the belay.

This is a traditional onsight first-free ascent of "The Waker," a 5.10 b/c route on a bomber Arkansas sandstone crack. The height is about 65 feet. The climber in the pic is Austin Williams, the photo was taken by Adam Clarke on April 19, 2002. The crux
