Just scannin the sceneryPicture taken after climbin the VERY classic north ridge of Montezuma's Tower. I forgot how nerve-racking leading the 2nd pitch can be, despite being 5.7. Definitely not something I even want to THINK about falling off of.

Montezuma's TowerMontezuma's Tower at Garden of the Gods, Colorado. There are two climbers, one at the top and one about 3/4s of the way up. They are a little hard to see. This was about 10:00am I believe.

summit after sunsetWe raced up the ridge to get in one last climb after an incredible day (and our first) in Garden of the Gods. The North Ridge is definitely worth doing and if you're confident on 5.7 all you need is quickdraws.

Me climbing Montezumas North RidgeThis is at the start of the north ridge route. It's probably the scariest 5.7 i've ever climbed, but fun.

Rob on Montazumas Tower (5.7)Montazumas Tower is a fun easy climb with great exposure. Remember to bring a runner or some loose webbing to use as protection about half way up the first pitch.

North Ridge at Belay PointThe North ridge of montezuma's tower is a classic climb. The two short pitches go at 5.7. The first half is a little runout. Gary Kimpler is the climber and Larry Shaw is taking the picture. This is a must do route for anyone taking a trip to the garden. The mental crux is halfway up the fin. It narrows to about 1 foot and when it's windy you feel quite exposed.
