Ambia versus the V2 on the Submarine

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Ambia versus the V2 on the Submarine

Problem #33 - a 2 starred V2 on the Submarine Boulder at Spittle Hill, Castle Hill. A fun lil' problem consisting of smears, pockets and a bit of grunt! If you're a shorty like me, use your foot on the under-cave at the beginning!

Trying Beautiful Edges (V4) at Spittle Hill

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Trying Beautiful Edges (V4) at Spittle Hill

I had seen this problem on rc.com and told Gary (socialclimber) I wanted to try it before we left. An area classic, which means polished by years of muddy boulder shoes. I only made it part of the way. Gary (spotting) made it to the top, but couldn't finish. Maybe next time!

Torpedo

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Torpedo

This route has large moves between jugs with a dyno towards the top, a super fun problem, except for the polished foot holds.

Topping Out Beautiful Edges

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Topping Out Beautiful Edges

Such a unique problem for the area. Seb made it look like a piece of cake. it's a nice high ball V4 which everyone must do when you visit Castle Hill. The free camping down the road is another huge incentive but beware of the KEA's. (alpine parrots)

Recovering Trad addict

Average Rating = 2.00/5 Recovering Trad addict

The terrible thing about this addiction is that it can hit anyone and can be easily hidden from loved ones in it's early stages. For the trad addicts that can't go cold turky we give them a little hit in the form of bouldering, just enough to take the edge off. Although Gabe (sbaclimber) isn't far enough along in the program that he feels comfortable climbing without a harness, you will note he did only load up with quick draws, choosing to leave his serious trad gear in the bag. (Well done Gabe!!) Some people, like sbaclimber, may never fully recover from this all-consuming addiction that is trad climbing but they can still go on to lead full and productive lives with a little support. ( PM socialclimber regarding donations)

When trad climbers are forced to boulder....

Average Rating = 2.00/5 When trad climbers are forced to boulder....

Between the few sport climbs in the area there are tons and tons of boulders, so I tend to occasionally get suckered into trying to climb one of them. Photo by Doors

SICK day on Spittle Hill

Average Rating = 4.00/5 SICK day on Spittle Hill

Steve skips a few moves of Beautiful Edges (V4) on this warm winters day. This is a great place to throw down and wonder around the top of Spittle Hill as there are heaps of problems to play on. Check out the mantel warm up boulder on the bottom R of this photo and go solo the (13) slabs (top L) for a bit of spice! Photo by Mick Wells

Spittle Hill. The letter box, so named because of the slot in the middle of the face. A cool big reach problem on nice jugs, v5. Photo: Mike, climbiner: leadelephant.
