Elke Lindner was doing this crack when she was seven month's pregnant with Chris. You have to wonder if this rubbed off a little on this wonder kid! Photo: BVB collection

Coached by his father, Tom Lindner, and overseen by R. Piggot, Chris works his way through this classic off-hand crack. That is, off-hand for us big people!

If only his hands were a bit smaller he wouldn't have to use those painful ring locks...
This is a picture of my best friend/climbing partner, Scott, climbing Robbin's Crack (5.10a) at Mt. Woodson on 01/04/06. Tough problem but he took to it very well.

Classic short crack-walk. Royal robbins first free climbed this classic finger-hand crack way back in the day.

... a sport climber approaches a perfect 5.10a hand crack? The keep as much of their extremities out of the crack as possible, and take the slightly more strenuous approach - the heinous lieback. These foolish games didn't last long as the subject eventually conceded victory to the crack and sunk his hands in for a painful journey to the top.

All the way to the top, nothing but beautiful hand jams. One of sweetest cracks I've climbed.

jvb on yet another airy, standard-issue 25-footer woodson highball: the robbin's crack. if you think the ropeless trip up is scary, better put on the diapers for the descent -- downclimbing the crack! photo shot back in march, 1985.

A boulder from the first foot hill on the left as you begin up Mt. Woodson. There is a 5.5ish chimney and some other beginner climbs here. I think this problem is a V1. Lie dector looks down upon this rocky hill. Photo by Katie Hayashi.
