Alex on pitch 2 of Adios LarryAlex Cameron belayed by Fritzski on 2nd pitch of Adios Larry after it was retrobolted. Still need to pay attention near the top even if it is jugs to top slab. After a bulgy couple cruxes at start of the pitch, it stays steep and clean. Great rock, wonderful day with good friends. By Sonso45 on olympus digital 010804.

The Totem Pole.About three miles down a nasty 4 wheel drive road gets you to Lower Devil's Canyon. Has some of the best roped climbing in Queen Creek.

the time when a longer rope would have done wondersThis is in the Lower Devils Canyon at QC. We were stupid and didn't find the trail so we bush wacked it all the way in from the canyon floor through some really nasty cactus and stuff. We came upon this route, it looked good but we didn't have a book to tell us what the route was rated so i jumped on it. We thought it was a 2 pitch so i took 2 ropes up with me but it turns out there was no hanging belay so the only way to do this route all the way to the top was to put in your own anchors with cams but the wall is pretty smooth so that would have been real hard. So i got to about the 7th bolt and just said screw it and threw in a bail beaner and came down. This is a pic from about 80 ft up while i sat on the 7th bolt.

Runouts above the waterfallVery warm spring day with a cool waterfall below. Not often you get to see that. The route was a tad runout without gear.

Anchors awayStarting up the east face of the Totem Pole. A great fun route. Gets steeper and harder at the end and stays in your face the last quarter!
