The Mantle Route at Red Slab 2This a great warm up route on Red Slap. It's tough enough to give you a good workout, yet easy enough to enjoy the view.

Red Slab. Rock Canyon, UTHere I am leading probably the easiest lead in the canyon. The way this picture is taken makes it look a lot steeper than it actually is. In reality, it has a nice easy angle; perfect for beginners. It is fun to lead Red-Slab and then hit Edd and Terry Wall, even though you can scramble to the higher routes.

Red Slab RoutesThe current guide book sucks and I have been waiting forever for the new one. I think a couple of simple route maps will make climnbing in the canyon more enjoyable tell me what you think

Alanna tries an 11After leading every route on the red slab I thought I would scout out this route and try to lead it after a top rope try. I was surprised to see Alanna make this route. It really is a fun route with a few hard problems. Save energy for the last 20 feet.

Tom clips bolt #4Not a bad climb, One of the few routes on the red slab that requires effort and is not always being climbed by people who are afraid of anything that approaches being vertical (the same ones who are constanly knocking loose rock down on those below).

The 5.9 roofI always watch the rookies cheat through this climb and then talk about how they can climb 5.10d. This a 9+ (the 10.d is 20 feet to the left and is trad)and if you have a brain you can solve the crux pretty quick and finish the rest of the route which is like 7 to 8 after the roof. A really fun lead and a great warm up. You can usually find this route open as well because you can not set it up as a top rope without leading it.
