This is the shelter of Sange Siyah. Sange Siyah means "black stone". The shelter is located at approximately 3387 and lies halfway between the shelter of Shirpala and the peak of Tochal.

A group of unknown hikers on the way to Sange Siyah, which is visible on the upper middle-right corner of the picture. The group consisted of four 60 year old men only.

This is the Shirpala shelter complex. Shirpala is roughly 2 hours hike from Darband. It is a 4 hours hike from Shirpala to Tochal. It is open to the public everyday and you can stay overnight.

Me standing in front of the shelter of Tochal peak - 3965 meters. This is the highest peak of Central Alborz, which is directly accessible from Tehran. It is a 5 to 6 hours hike from Darband, over Shirpala, and then Sange Siyah.

This photo is taken from Shirpala, which is on the way to Tochal. Winter 2002 was a snow-rich winter for Tehran and Iran.
