Pedra do Frade

Average Rating = 3.33/5 Pedra do Frade

Pedra do Frade (largest at the picture) at Itapajé, Ceará, Brazil. This rock (about 180m high) has only two routes and is still very unexplored. The smaller rock (about 100m high) has a new unnamed and unfinished route consisting of four pitches up to this moment. Picture taken at the sunrise, at the start of the first day of the route establishment trip.

Bananas!

Average Rating = 2.80/5 Bananas!

Large part of our diet while establishing the new route. These bananas were collected very near to the Frade rock and were delicious! In the background, the smaller rock, at the side of the Frade rock, were the new route was established.

Fourth pitch and up

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Fourth pitch and up

Julio on establishing the fourth pitch of the yet to be named route in the Fradinho rock. Differently from the first three pitches, the fourth one takes no gear, as it's almost a blank face... Andre, is belaying from a very comfortable instance, while Julio is working hard to hand drill a new bolt.

This is my first lead on rock at the "me engana que eu gosto" route. Julio was a very patient belayer from behind the trees.

Sunset at the Galinha Choca rock

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Sunset at the Galinha Choca rock

Can you find any similarity between any of the rocks in the picture and a hatching chicken? Thats the Galinha Choca rock at Quixada, Brazil. That rock has several sport and trad routes ranging from the easiest to the hardest. Picture taken after a hard day of climbing.

Julio's first crack experience

Average Rating = 3.25/5 Julio's first crack experience

One of Julio's first crack climbing on Fenda de Anita at the Galinha Choca rock, Brazil. It was an easy climbing, and the crack provides good placements.

Julio in the hornets route

Average Rating = 2.67/5 Julio in the hornets route

The picture shows Julio fighting against the hornets that were near the route's ending point. We were trying to scare them away using smoke. This is our first route and we were using a drill and a hammer. Dont try doing this at home guys!
