Getting a close look at the rockSebastian Lowensteijn on a problem at the Baring head session of the National bouldering comp. I believe he was actually showing some others how to do this problem, if you look carefully you'll see the chalk rings dictating where feet and hands can go, and the 92, 93 indicating this is was problem 92 and 93. Oh by the way he won the comp and the series.

If only I could use all those holdsAnother visiting Japanese climber trying his luck on a Baring head boulder as part of the national bouldering comp. Only allowed to use the chalk ringed holds, this was artificially taken to an NZ V6 problem if I remember rightly.
These crazy rock carvings are done by the sea as this is at the beach but the rock is extremely solid.

What it takes to win!Mayan Smith-Gobat showing the women what form it takes to win the Baring head section of the New Zealand National Bouldering series 2004. Not the first time she has done that. Route - I'm not sure, but the chalk was to restrict climbers from taking the easy way out.
