Pedro plowing the way in very foggy condition on the immense glacier between caraz 1 and caraz 2 after 6 hours we managed our way to five meters of the summit only to turn around cursing brad j. for the one ice axe and no ice screw in the equipment department of the guide book

on this nice snow arete ther was a 50 meter deep creavase on the left and on the right a hundred meter drop off very exposed...and at the end was a seven foot jump onto a tiny snow bridge...very fun and exciting stuff... and of course i was elected to go first ..mmmm ...Pedro took this picture of me on day 10 of 12 in the valley paron

After a quick six hours pedro and I made it to the summit of artesonraju, in perfect late season conditions. Quitaraju and alpamayo can be seen in the background.
