Cranking on a solid jam, and matching my right foot to hand starts the crux of the roof.

On top of roof crack. took me a couple of tries, but I finished it. Roof corner can be seen as the far right crack in picture.

I believe this was the mild portion of the route. Pretty much the whole route is casual but interesting.

Lead the crack on the right up through the offwidth splitter 25 ft up. Belay from here to avoid rope drag, or use long slings to make it a 130 ft enjoyable crack/seam.

This is andrea moving through the crux on high anxiety. The moves are strechy and fun. Lower Mount Scott in my opinion has the best scenery of any climbing area in the refuge.

The top of the snakes head features a featureless slab best suited for solo work. Dragging up ropes just slows you down.

While hiking through the Bernese Oberland on a day trip from Interlaken, and before i started getting into climbing, i noticed the cloud streaming off the rock like smoke. It was constant throughout the day, and we never saw the summit. Anyone know what this phenomenon is called? Anyway, I would love to go back and conquer this beast of a mountain.

Arkansas in the fall is a great time to visit. I cant remember what route this was but there are three on this roof becoming more difficult towards the peak on the Roman Wall. Thats John Andres belaying his brother Jim while Chris Marks takes the pic.
