I was called out to act as an observer for FMR. A base jumper had gotten himself tangled up with the cliff and needed rescuing.

These rivet hangers are the bomb. We in Oz call these bolt plates and they are essentially for hanging on carrot bolts which are a curious Australian institution for protection. Machine bolts are driven in anywhere from a half inch to four inches, not that you`d know from looking at them from the outside. Carrots can either be amazingly strong or complete bunk. Bolt plates or rivet hangers of this style are much more secure than a swaged cable. The cable swages have been known to fail.
