2 out of 5 stars 1st Ascent?

The route was covered with poison ivy and other nasty vegetation. Started up on lead, but couldn't get anything in (other than a long dong behind the flake well before the traverse). I backed off. Came back the next week and set it up as a top rope. Cleaned poison ivy vines for hours. Climbed it as a TR (thought the traverse was a soft 5.7). Came back late in October and placed two 1/4" button heads on lead (thought I was going to die). It's a crescent shape line, and definitely fertile; ergo the name. Those little stubbies stayed in for about five years. Came back and replaced them (on rappel) w/ 3/8" bolts. The rap line was a nice TR that went to within 12' of the top at a stiff 5.10 (real balancy).

2 out of 5 stars fertile crescent

This is a fun, easy, slightly exposed line following the crescent-shaped formation. Thanks S.H. for the beta, your 5.8 route is next, whenever I get a day off.
