It is a b*tch of a bushwhack to get to the slabs. It is a really fun route. We soloed it in our tennis shoes. Bring alot of water if doing it in the late summer! Really fun.

Ascent Note
Classic solo. Why were the belays bolted? Numerous lines to choose from. All with ledges, trees, and cracks for fine belays. Some of the climbing may be a little runnout, but being a litte crafty with the belays avoids the bolts and a much more traditional alpine experience. Either climb off west as the Ruckmans suggest or (if early season) continue to the summit and down Memorial for a quick decent.

What can I say, Epic! This was an awesome climb. Not only did I climb the West Slabs with rock gear I hiked from there through the big valley and climbed to the actual summit! 11 hours on the mountain, that was a good day!!
