Description:

Wonderful beginner's route for multi-pitch trad climbing. 4th pitch up to Traffic Jam Chimney is the crux. Mainly a hike to the summit after that. Exposed scramble to the summit.

Descent Options:

1 Rappel with two ropes (60-70m) from Traffic Jam Chimney. Set your knot and your ropes to the outside of the big pine tree to avoid getting your ropes stuck.

I've done it four times over the years. It's easy and long, yet there's nothing like it in the eastern U.S. The first time I did it, I skipped the first belay and rope drag was significant. Take the time to belay at the big ledge with the root. The corner at Traffic Jam makes it a 5.3. For a new leader it can be a little hairy.
