Description:
The Southeast Buttress consists of several different lines that all lead to the summit. You can pick and choose your way up the many lines, following the most direct path, or traversing to different lines that may look more interesting. The climbing is pretty easy 5.6 with some 5.7-5.9 variations. The entire buttress will go at 5.6 if desired. Cathedral Peak has superb rock quality, wonderful climbing, and beatiful views, not too mention a very enjoyable approach. It is a great alpine rock route for beginners with an approach of about 1.5 hours. Definitely a must do. Be careful of afternoon thunderstorms during the summer.Descent Options:

2nd Time up, First Time Leading (1st pitch)
We did this with a party of 3 so I only got to lead one of the pitches. We did a 5.9 variation for one of the pitches though, great fun. It was fairly crowded but there was never too much of a pile up (we skipped the chimney wait by doing the 5.9 variation).
