no protection. this is a free-solo and bouldering practice area. you can use cams and blocks in a few places directly hooked to your harness if you get in a sticky situation.

Description:
Accross from the first setback on beaver brook trail, as you come around the bend, you see accross the valley to the other side of the trail and see the whole mountain side covered with rocks. it is above the trail. climb up is a pain in the ass, broken ground, lots of loose rocks and no trails. from the crash course you can look directly out and up and see the house and towers at the top of lookout mtn. ****There are no bolts or anchors or gear of any kind used on this course**** The rocks are both good and bad quality rocks. there is a ton of moss and dirt on the rocks durring the climbs. there are plenty of spots that offer a 2-8 move tight-situation- scenarios. there are some hangovers, cracks, flat walls, lots of fingertip holds and finger/toe jams. the footing is always slippery due to moss and dirt. this is a dangerouse course, on the rocks there is no ground to fall to, so mats are not very useable. 98% of the places to practice that we found offer a straight down fall the side of the mountain. . extreme caution should be taken! difficulty ranges from 5.6 to 5.12 i would say. there were some spots so jacked up we couldn't make a second or third move, so the challenge and danger factor is intense!!!Descent Options:
climb very slowly or tuck and roll!

crash and burn!!
hike up to rocks sucks, but it is a sick multi-level area. wear a harness and take cams. no ropes or anchors or bolts. shorter height people will be much more difficult to climb a few of the spots.
