Ascent Note
After the somewhat stiff first pitch (for a climber with a rack and/or backpack), a fun low-key afternoon adventure.
<p>
I led the third and sixth pitches (no falls), and had no trouble finding plenty of good placements despite being a trad newbie. We carried two sets of nuts and cams through Camalot #4, and only placed the 3.5 and 4 in a couple of spots. On the top half of the sixth pitch I found a fixed green Camalot, but failed to claim it as booty, so it's probably still there.
<p>
Our party of three was just starting the first pitch when a climber decked off of the nearby "Just do do it." YOSAR was there incredibly quickly, and there was a big to-do, but our leader was already well up, so we kept at it despite the nearby rescue. One or two other parties bailed at that time, but we had a huddle at the top of the first pitch, and elected to keep going. Reports suggest that that climber will probably be OK, but he's got a bad concussion.
<p>
Also, at least two pieces of gear came down while we were starting, so all in all I'm glad we all wore helmets even while at the foot of the first pitch.
