Hound Ears this October is going to be my first comp and i was kind of curious. I've heard a lot about problems being seriously downgraded at triple crown events and was wondering if there's any truth to that. I'm not too worried about it because I'm not that competitive, just thought it might be fun to give it a shot.

Out of all of the Triple Crown events, I think that the grades at Hound Ears are closest to right (although there may be nothing so subjective as bouldering grades). I would agree that the HP40 Triple Crown grades are a good bit sandbagged for those who don't climb there all the time (what's Millipede going to be this year---V3?). But the truth is that none of that really matters. The events are great fun, the other climbers are friendly, and all of the venues have lots of problems for all ability brackets. Most importantly, the money raised goes to a great cause, and everyone always seems to have a good time. Good Luck, climb safe, see you there.
