BRC or the Spot: Which is more crowded?

Anybody have any opinions on which gym is more crowded-Boulder Rock Club or the Spot? I'm looking to join one for the winter but don't feel like standing in line to get a workout in. I'll probably be going during the week between 3 and 4. I'm not 20 anymore, so for better or for worse I'm not going to the gym to hang out or pick up women-just looking to not get fat and soft this winter. Any input would be appreciated.

There is one obvious thing to consider. If you want to do routes, then BRC is your only real choice. The Spot does have a small roped wall, but that's not why you'd get a membership there.

BRC expanded last year with a significant new section for roped climbing and more bouldering. Prior to that I do know that there were days when it was so crowded people would look in the door and turn around and leave. I don't know about now.

I'm sure other people will be able to provide specific details regarding the time-slot you mention.

If you can go during the week between 3 and 4 you should be okay at either. Both places start to get crowded around 4 on weekdays. Make your decision based on bouldering vs. TR. Don't forget to consider your partner situation.

Rumor has it a new rock gym will be opening near Valmont and 28th. Anybody know details? Seems like there is potential market viability but it won't be easy. Pity BRC closed the original, though it made sense at the time.

Even when the BRC is quite busy, there are usually a handful of routes in the 10- to 11+ range free. The new addition added quite a bit of square footage.

Agree with the above poster... if you want to do routes, the BRC is the place to go. If you want to boulder exclusively, definitely go to the Spot.

As for the following comment:

Was that perhaps a joke? The BRC, being near the corner of 28th and Mapleton, is 1/2 block from Valmont and 28th.
