About Brooyar:

Small sandstone crag nestled amoungst the dry scrub of the Glastonbury State Forest. Most routes are bolted (many badly!) and ascend juggy, rough and featured walls. There is nothing much hard here with the average grade around 20. Classics include 'Looking for the Sun' (19), a great mixed gear and bolt route up an imposing orange wall. Another good one for aspiring pumpers is the very overhung flake 'The Great Devoid' (22).
Nearest town or city: Gympie (Brisbane)
Directions: The area is situated about 20km north west of Gympie, with the turn-off 180km north of Brisbane. From the 80km/h sign as you leave Gympie drive north for 10km to the Kilkivan turnoff (Wide Bay Highway). Turn left down this (across the bridge) and drive along for 4.6km to find the Brooyar State Forest turnoff on the left. This dirt road meanders through the forest with numerous small roads branching off on each side. At 4km down this dirt road take the left turn at the road branch (marked lookout and campsite). At 5.9km you will reach the first crag - Eagles Nest.
