About Mountain Quarry:

Mountain Quarry is another of Perth's quarries. The quarry is granite with bits of dolerite, it is mostly fairly solid however there are still some loose sections. Dirty top-outs can also be a problem sometimes.

This is the place to go for hard routes. Most of the routes are bolted/partly bolted, thought there are some trad routes. Most of the climbing is in the upper grades, so it is not the best place for beginners. However it is fairly easy to set up top-ropes (although the main wall is too high). There is access to the top of the quarry from both sides.

The best guidebook to get would be either Perth Rock Climbing Guide by CAWA or West Australian ROCK by Climbwest as both have good photo topos, though the CAWA guide has more descriptions.

Routes not in any of the guidebooks that are described here are: Going for Broker (City Limits Wall), Inside Out and The Shield of Achilles (Main Wall) and The Last Splash (Skywalker Wall). For more information see the relevant issues of Western Climber (produced by CAWA).

For more info see the Climbwest page and the CAWA page.
