About G. Hohe Wand:

The Hohe Wand is the largest climbing area in this region. It has a very long climbing tradition. I do not know it exactyl but i think it should be about 400-500 routes. The wall is some 300 meters high so there are lots of multy pitch routes. The character of the routes is from alpin style (trad climbing) multi pitch routes starting at grad 3 where you might need trad equipment (like friends and nuts) to extrem hard sport routes up to 8b. In general a helmet should be on your equipment list as the region is also a major hiking area and hikers tend to ... ! As the area is very large i will try to describe the different sectors (when i have got some time) The Hohe Wand area is a natural reserve (so behave !) - This also means that at weekends you will have to pay an entrance fee of about 5 EUR.
Nearest town or city: Wr. Neustadt
Directions: Leave the A2 freeway at Woellersdorf. Go on to Waldegg, Pernitz and finally Muggendorf (always following the green Hohe Wand signs). You can see the Hohe Wand from the freeway as it is reallay hughe !
