About Brownstones Bouldering (OS):

A very good bouldering area with over 150 routes in all grades up to 20 feet tall. Good gritstone that dries quickly. Worth a visit, really nice on a winter's day too cold for all the other crags

Directions: OS 108 GR SD 681 125 Alt. 268m
3 miles NW of Bolton. From the A58 ringroad go west on the B6626 and turn right after half a mile at the pub and head up the hill. Follow the road around right to some woods in less than a mile, and just past these on the left is the quarry.
