About Savage River Formation:

Take the main park road out to the Savage River Trail Head. (for those in cars it is the furthest most point that you can go in the park during the summer--for those no shuttle buses take the free S.R.S. that leaves every two hours) Formation is clearly visable from the road. Lots of good bouldering problems. Crash pad might be nice to have considering the loose sharper rocks that make up where you will land if you fall. But it is not vital. I've been there 4 times and still havn't gotten my fill of the bouldering there. Only downside is that this area is a major tourist area. I have never seen any of them attempting to climb the rock, but they do walk around the path loudly until they see you on the wall. Be aware that they take lots of pictures too--they will treat you climbing like an attraction. So remeber to give them a good pose when they take your pic. Ha.
