| 5 quality dacite sport climbs on South Face of Mount Elden overlooking entire Flagstaff area. Located on a modest chunk East of the the Devil's Chair - visible from town. Not in Solitude Canyon. Approach from East end of Gloria's Rocks. Follow most direct path, paying attention to cairns at intersections. Cairns lead past two boulders at a drainage(1/2 way point), then up steep switchbacking trail to west-facing dacite chunks - 45 min. Climbable year round, even during dry winters, shade til 1pm. Memorable approach, routes, and views of Flagstaff and surrounding region make this a mandatory neo-classic sport adventure for locals and visitors. Equipped Oct. 2005. I need some water. |
