About Virgin River Gorge:
Located in the corner of Arizona only a few minutes drive from both the Utah and Nevada borders, climbers worldwide come to climbing the steep limestone in this narrow gorge. Don't get too excited yet; this isn't for the timid as routes average 5.12d. Some of the hardest routes in the USA are found here, including "Necessary Evil" established by Chris Sharma. Camping is available in the Cedar Pockets Campground. |

Directions: | About 25 miles south of St. George on I-15. Park in pullout on southbound lanes just after the bridge. If coming from Las Vegas you will need to proceed to the next exit and return back down the canyon in the southbound lanes. Routes are located on the east and west sides of the Virgin River. Going north...from Las Vegas, follow I-15 X miles until mile marker(?) amd pull off right for parking. For access to the western side, crossing theriver, a 3/8 inch cable traverse is found at the bottom of the large tallus slope near the river bank. |
