About Ellery Lake Dam Spillway:

There are many good TRs and a few classic leads on the crags above and below the Old Mining Road that runs east from Ellery Lake Dam spillway. Approach: Park along the Tioga Rd. (US 120) on the N. side of Ellery Lake Dam, walk across it, and then head out the abandoned mining road about 1/2 mile until you pass the Spillway Crag where "Gold Mind" (5.9) is located. Starting from this point, many short crack climbs can be found on individual cliff bands either above or below the Mining Road. For the location of Spillway Crag refer to Reid & Falkenstein, Rock Climbs of Tuolumne Meadows, 3rd ed. (Chockstone Press: Evergreen, Colorado, 1992).
