About Red River Gorge (Bouldering):

Some of the finest bouldering around. Lots of developement in the way of bouldering still needs to be done. I've heard that you can pick up a bouldering guide at the Shell Station in Slade but if they are out try Red River Outdoors shop on your way to Miguel's. The Red is also home to one of the toughest climbing organisations around, the Red River Gorge Climbing Coalition. They have been around since 1996 working with the NFS to keep climbing areas open. Please visit our Climbing Page. CAMPING: Miguel's is the place to stay if your into hanging out with climbers. Miguel Ventura serves up the best pizza in the world and hosts a Climber's Only campground in back. You can buy 7 minutes of warm water for a dollar to take a shower there. Also, there is usually some locals out front trying some furniture bouldering problems during the evening. Koomer Ridge Campground can be found 4 miles east of the Shell station in Slade. Whittleton Branch Campground is located a couple miles south of the rest area on KY 11.
