About Grandmother Boulders:

| Nearest town or city: | Linville |
| Directions: | From Blowing Rock, get on the Blue Ridge Parkway heading south. Park in the Grandfather Mountain parking overlook (mile 306.6). Walk south on parkway for about 1/4 mi. Look for a trail heading up into the woods. The first area is about 100 yds. in. If the Grandfather Mountain parking overlook is full use the Grandmother Mountain parking area (mile 307.4). DO NOT PARK ON THE SHOULDER!!! Please be sure to stay on the trails and not to wander unless someone who knows the area is showing you around. There are many rare plant species in the area, in particular a spruce fir forest near the top. Please show respect for this beautiful forest and be as low impact as possible. It is also worth mentioning there are million dollar homes near the top with mostly seasonal occupants that enjoy their peace and quiet, please respect them too. |
