| Directions: | Located in White Rock Acres. From 641 S of Mechanicsburg, take Rt 741 towards Boiling Springs. When you get into the small village of Allen, make a Left. Cross the railroad bridge, then turn Left again and continue to the Y in the road, bearing Right. Look for Ap Trail going into the woods on the right. Park and follow the ApTr. Rocks are located on the ApTr at the top of the ridge line. Better Directions: From Carlisle and Route 81 West/Northwest of Boiling Springs/Dillsburg • From Route 81 South-bound, get off at exit 49. At the bottom of the ramp, take a right, and then an immediate LEFT onto Fairfield Street. At the end of Fairfield street (about a half mile), take a LEFT onto Route 74. Follow Directions Below. • From Route 81 North-bound: Get off at exit 48 for Route 74. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto Route 74. • Follow Route 74 Southeast from Carlisle towards Boiling Springs, for about 3-4 miles. • In Downtown Boiling Springs, you will cross Route 174. About a half mile later, turn RIGHT into Old Stonehouse Road. • About 3/4 mile on Old Stonehouse Road, you will cross over a set of Railroad Tracks. Right after the tracks, the road will curve 90° around to the left, and become Leigigh Drive. • Take the immediate left turn onto Kuhn Road • About a half mile down Kuhn Road, you will begin to go up a hill and into the White Rock Acres development. • The trail head will be another quarter mile up the road from here. • Follow the last five steps on the directions below. Other Directions, from East, North, or South of Boiling Springs/Mechanicsburg/Dillsburg/Harrisburg • Take Route 15 north/south towards Dillsburg, PA (South of Harrisburg, North of Gettysburg) • Turn at the first traffic light north of the town of Dillsburg (next to Shumaker's Getty Station). This is a 3-way intersection, so there is only one way to turn, onto Route 74/Carlisle Road. • Follow Carlisle Road/74 Straight for about a half a mile. This becomes York Road. • After about another mile or so, the road will take a sharp turn to the right, over some railroad tracks. IMMEDIATELY after the railroad tracks, turn LEFT onto Creek Road. • After about 1.5-2 miles on Creek Road, the road will end at a T-Intersection. Turn LEFT onto Kuhn Road. • About .5 to .75 miles up Kuhn Road, you will see a yellow gate on the Right with a sign & arrow point up the street talking about the White Rocks Trail. The trail head is less than .1 miles past this. • There will be another sign pointing up the road to the trail head. The trail head is only a few yards past this sign. • There is a very wide shoulder at the trial head - plenty of space to pull of, park, and unload. Very little traffic, so don't worry too much about your car. • The trail is marked with blue dots on the trees. They are labeled very well, we had no trouble hiking to the top of the mountain. • The hike is about 1.5-2 miles. It took us 20-25 minutes to get to the top. • Follow the trail to the top of the mountain - you will be able to tell you're at the top. At the top of the mountain, once on the ridge-line, hike off to the right about another 100 yards, and you will find boulders out the wazoo. From what we could tell, 4-5 major rock formations that offer climbing opportunities. |
