About Cougar Cliffs:

Located near the famous local rappelling cliff, there are about 15 sport routes on sandstone. This crag is not visited nearly as much as other nearby crags (Black Rocks and Chuckawalla). If you want to have the crag to yourself and experience a great view, this is the place to climb. Some climbers find the rock a bit chossy and scary to climb on, but with increased traffic, the routes should become cleaned over time. This is a great spot to climb at in the afternoon during the winter months. I have climbed here with my shirt off on New Years Day on just such a day.
Nearest town or city: St. George
Directions: Take Bluff Street 3 miles north and turn off at mile marker 6. Hop the tortoise fence and walk to the cliff. Routes are located south of the rappelling area at the end of the outcrop. You will need to descend using the 2 fixed ropes hand over hand to the base of the climbs. (10 minute approach)
