About Turtle Wall:
Short sport climbs 20-40 feet on vertical to overhanging sandstone. The rock is made of the typical soft red sandstone layer found around St. George and in Snow Canyon. This crag has a "cave" on the north end which creates some interesting routes. Many of the climbs can be accessed easily from the top which makes this crag one of the more popular places to climb around St. George. Some of the climbs are getting worn and polished from all the traffic. This crag is particularly good to climb at in the mornings during the winter months. |

Directions: | Park at the pull out for Chuckawalla. Hike northwest along dirt road past Chuckawalla. Follow the canyon (Paradise Canyon) which is in the Desert Reserve, for about a mile. The wall is on the left and will be obvious. Stay on the trail to keep climber traffic impact to a minimum as this is Desert Tortoise habitat and is subject to closure if there is too much damage to the vegetation. |
