About Dictum Ridge:

Part of a twelve-mile-long ATV/4WD fire road loop that ends at the foot of Second Mountain, two-tenths of a mile east on Rte 33. A little hard to find and kind of remote (45 minutes-1 hour approach), but still fairly secluded and pristine. Great for mtn biking/aerobic workout, nature watching and hilltraining, as well as just being a gorgeous setting and a great hike any time of year.
Nearest town or city: Rawley Springs
Directions: Use the No Access Issue approach as for Second Mountain- turn right into Rocky Run, just before the bridge, and follow to the loop at the end. Cross the creek (can be high in melt/rainy season). Follow road/trail along LH creek bank. Pass the right-hand fork to Second and continue ahead, eventually beginning to climb up to the left. Pass some long, steep sections of trail (can be especially bad after rains and heavy 4-wheeler use) before reaching the Trailways Boulder. Fifteen minutes further hiking will see you gaining the far more level trail on top, which eventualy interesects the old fire road. Turn right and follow the fire road to the large meadow. At the end of the meadow, turn left and drop down off the ridge, contouring a bit left and down along the obvious rock band to reach the Deja Vu maze.
