Already known as the Yosemite of South America, Valle Cochamó has 1000-meter walls located in the Patagonian Andes west of Puerto Montt. Still in its infancy, this world-class destination is quickly transforming and earning the respect of many of the best climbers in the world. Don´t expect this to be a hop, skip and trot to the local crag. New routes take work and many established routes have minimal rap anchors and bolts. The closest town is Cochamó, 18 kilometers west of the valley. There is nearly limitless potential of new routes. More than 100 big-wall and crag routes have been established. A new sport climbing area offers overhanging routes that stay dry when it rains. The best season and dryest is mid January through mid March - usually quite dry. Outside of these months can widely vary and is totally unpredictable. The natural beauty and purity of this area are beyond description - truly untouched.
