About Palestras del Manzano:

This area is within the "el manzano" ranch, one may or may not be charged money for passage to the rock area, the rock itself is volcanic, at least 41 routes here varying from a 5.6 thru a 5.13b and a route that is still a project. There is no water available once you arrive at the rock itself which is on a hillside, so pack it with you. There is nowhere to put a tent up by the rock but in summer it's ok to sleep in the open, there are no dangerous bugs as opposed to las chilcas. in the summer months there are "tabanos" which are large biting flies, aside from a painful bite and a very anoying attitude they are harmless and the bites won't itch like mosquito bites. winter climbing is difficult because of the cold, it may snow very occasionaly.

Directions: by car you must drive into the cajon del maipo from las viscachas, close to bus stop 21 you'll find a blue sign on the left side of the road that says "zona de picnic Estero del manzano", turn left and drive one kilometer along a dirt road until you reach the gate of the ranch, you will be charged to enter, two clicks in from there you will reach a fork in the road, go left until the road ends and you will find bathrooms, from there take the path that goes left and hike towards the river, the rock is easily visible.
