About El Lloron:

This possible climbing area shows a lot of potential for sport and possibly trad.
Nearest town or city: Penonome
Directions: Driving towards downtown Penonome just past the Esso gas station in Penonome turn right where all the people wait for the busses. Drive towards Churuquita Grande. Park at the school on your left. It's about 12.8 miles from the Esso to the school. There are a number of schools along the way so set your odometer or use a GPS. You will see the rock (El Lloron) from the school. Start walking. It's best to ask one of the local kids to guide you. You can ask for Roberto. You will have to cut across private property hopping barb wire fences. The base is also privately owned but no one will hassle you. The walk in to the base is about 20 minutes. The best way to approach the top is from the right. On the right side of El Lloron I put in a 26m top rope route called Salta Monte (5.7) back in 2007. Feel free to explore and see of there is anything else worth putting up. Coords: Esso- N8 30.912 W80 21.151 School- N8 37.591 W80 14.134 Salta Monte (5.7) N8 37.830 W80 14.274
