I can give an update:

Our website has temporarily moved to:

http://www.yourcrags.blogspot.com/

This is due to the unavailability of our webmaster while he is swamped with other things. I will manage and update the new website accordingly to either we decide to host a new/old domain name, or decide to keep on blogspot. I like Blogspot cause it is free :)

The Board met last Thursday and we unanimously approved the Draft ASRA Climbing Management Plan. We will be submitting to the SRA this week most likely and requesting a meeting with them. We will be presenting it with the full backing of the Auburn City Council, who unanimously passed a resolution to support reopening climbing in the SRA.

The Draft Interim Plan is our attempt to provide the SRA with a viable option of a climbing plan that protects SRA resources but allows climbing in the interim until the User Plan is finalized. Given the states current budget crunch, allowing climbing ironically enough REDUCES their cost since enforcement of the climbing ban becomes a non-issue. The Draft Plan is based off of Access Fund Literature and several California and out of state climbing plans that are considered "gold standards".

The Draft Plan proposes opening up all Lower Quarry Routes and Areas that are not currently fenced off due to the new Teichert Lease. This would open: Scale Wall, Memorial Wall, Horseshoe Canyon, and the Wreckage Wall, as well as open up new walls for development. That would mean almost 50 sport routes ranging from 5.7 to 5.12+ would be immediately available to the NorCal Climbing Population.

Other CRAGS initiatives are bring the Reel Rock Film Festival to Sacramento. Look for more info soon! Beer, food, raffle, all for damn near nothing. Last years event was a success and we hope to build on that bringing in more people to the organization.

Keep the faith NorCal Sport Climbers! We are working as best we can to get Auburn reopened. While the place will never be world class, given legitimate access, it will easily become NorCals premiere sport climbing easily!

A sneak peek of what we are all missing out on:

Wreckage Wall before a good soaking

Dave on Ticks Dig Me 5.10c - Wreckage Wall

Doniel on Caught Inside 5.10c - Surf Tower

Dave on Destructomatic 5.11b - Wreckage Wall

Yours truly sending Triathlon 5.12c - Wreckage Wall

Vince cruising one of the old school 10bs in Horseshoe

Dave on Human Oddity 5.12a - Horseshoe (my contender for #1 Sport Route in the Bay Area0

Vince sticking the crux of Confusion Tactics 5.12a - Wreckage Wall

Chamille TR'ing Local Yokel 5.8 - Wreckage Wall

Yours truly on Bionic Bitch Slap 5.11a - Wreckage Wall

Ok enough for now, you get the point. The scary thing about Auburn is the potential is barely scratched...
